Tastes Like Chicken

Little did I know back in the summer of 2000 that I had given birth to Elmer Fudd. My son seems to have really taken to life in the country. He shot a rabbit in our backyard with his BB gun while guarding the garden! Gerry cooked it up "French style" (heavy creme and cognac) and the two of them gobbled it up...especially Mitch! He was very proud of himself. I, on the other hand, tried to swallow a bite so as not to discourage him, but I really couldn't bring myself to actually chew it. With all you read these days about mechanized poultry and beef production, that little rabbit was probably the cleanest, safest meat to eat (especially since it had gotten fat from our organic garden!). Still and all...make mine a burger.

Young Entrepeneurs

Mitch and his friends made $6 each selling strawberry plants over the weekend. There are weekend soccer games in the field behind the house, so they set up to take advantage of the traffic.

Trip to Jamestown

Most of the pictures are self explanatory except, perhaps, for the weird black object in a couple of them. This would be our new pet baby turtle, Zippy. Finding Zippy at Jamestown was the highlight of the whole trip!

Our Wonderful Rain Barrels

This is the rain barrel system Gerry set up. He used food grade vinegar barrels and pvc to link it all together. He attached the downspout from off the back of the garage and added a spigot to the pvc. He will post later with the details. One good night of rain fills all five barrels! We also need to get some good pictures up of the garden since things are really starting to pop!
